A note from our handlers about our service dogs. 🐾
When you see us out and about, you may notice our service dogs looking very focused. That's because they're paying attention to us—not the world around them. Every moment of that focus helps us navigate life safely and confidently.
We know it's hard to resist those sweet faces (trust us—we get it!). But our service dogs are doing what they love most: working. They aren't just pets wearing a vest—they're our partners. Working dogs thrive on having a job, and for our service dogs, we are that job. Caring for us is what they've been trained to do, and it's what they love.
One of the greatest gifts you can give us is helping our service dogs stay focused. You may not realize it, but even friendly eye contact can invite our service dogs to shift their attention. Along with avoiding talking to or touching them, allowing them to keep their focus on us is one of the kindest ways you can support our teams.
Sometimes it's difficult to ask someone not to pet, talk to, or engage with our service dogs, especially when we know the request may be disappointing. Please know it's never personal—it's simply about allowing our service dogs to continue doing the important work they love and helping keep us safe.
